3D Hubs Forum

Everyday we make changes and improvements to 3D Hubs website. If you have ideas for improvements or feature requests, this is the place to drop them. Get other people to vote up your ideas to accelerate the focus we give to it.

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Allow visitors to Browse 3D printing services without having to upload a file. (Suggested solution: Example parts files)

This would probably help first-time visitors (such as myself) get a better idea of what the website is all about, as well as what prices to expect. I think this would increase the likelihood of newcomers sticking around. (I'm still not 100% sure I have the right idea of how this website works.)

I stumbled upon this website while making Google searches about 3D printing. While I have previously dabbled in 3D modelling, I have as of yet never made use of any 3D printing services – I'm merely considering doing so at some point. As such, I don't have any…

    • create your own discountcodes

I would like to be able to hand out my own discount codes to new clients. I use the 3dhubs widget on my own site and want to advertise to create new clients.

      • Response time calculation

Can we please adjust response time. Submissions at 2am negatively affects your response time. As do week end submissions. Either adjust the calculation to take into to account reasonable business hours, or better still add a feature so Hubs can set their business hours, which will indicate when people can expect a response. I'd go with the former, it's cleaner, and less prone to creating pressure on competing hubs to operate at stupid oclock.

        • Filter hubs more thoroughly

I think if 3D Hubs had more filters- such as by response time and or order completion time, by ratings, by orders completed, and most importantly by price people would find what they were looking for more easily and be more likely to order, generating more income for makers And 3D Hubs. That would allow certain Hubs with lower end printers to cater to those who want cheap parts, or if you need a perfect piece you could search by rating to see who does the best job.

          • Add a "Vacation" setting or "Temporarily offline"

If a hub owner is going on vacation or to a conference for a week or two it would be nice to have a vacation mode or a temporarily offline mode. There could be one toggle switch with a corresponding date field that takes the hub printers offline but still allows the hub to show in search results. The difference being that it has a message stating something to the effect of "This hub is temporarily offline and will resume accepting orders on (date)". This way existing customers know you're still around, and, potential new customers may see still view…

            • Change minimum pricing when using many pricing components

When adjusting the price for materials it is great that you can use many different components to set the price fairly. Although since every component has a minimum pricing, the cost steadily increases with more pricing components. Perhaps there could be a minimum pricing on each of the Marvins instead, I think that would enable a more fair pricing on parts without increasing the price too much.

              • support removal

extra option for customer when placing order to choose that support have to be removed by hub or customer, hub then can set flat rate or hourly rate for support removal.

                • Is it possible to add videos to the profile of my printer?

                  The title says it all:

I have created several time-lapse videos of some printed pieces and I would like to show it in my profile.

                  • Allow for circular bed shape

As there are more and more delta style printer with a circular bed shape, it would be nice to list these printer as capable of printing a diameter of ...mm instead of a rectangular box.

For instance if a delta printer had a Ø400mm bed, it would be listed as 283x283mm (I guess), so if an user is asking for a volume based on a rectangle 380x115, it would be rejected.

                        • Your delivery form does not provide enough details

                          In New Zealand we use:
                          Company:
for the addresses a courier needs:

                          Street address:
                          Suburb:
                          City:
                          Postal Code:
                          Phone number

Currently a compnay name has to go in the second part of the address line, where the suburb should go.

                          Example address would be:
                          Company: Wellington Drive Technologies Ltd
                          Attn.: First + Last name
Street: Unit A, 21 Arrenway Drive
                          Suburb: Rosedale
                          City: Auckland
                          Postal code: 0632
                          Country: New Zealand
                          Ph.: 021-123 4567

Request for changes to accomodate company names and suburbs

                          • Allow instant order to be much more configurable.

I want to offer instant order, but not for all of my materials within a printer. Some of the TPU prints and other composite filaments are much more risky about printing vs ABS or PLA.

Give each material and printer a radio button to turn on or off instant order.

                            • Build plate size as an option

When defining your hub printers, it would be good it we could enter a max build plate size, ie 150mm x 150mm x120mm.
3d hubs could then reject prints that are too big. I hate having to reject orders because customers are not advised of sizes available.

                                • Fixed price on support removal!

I love the new feature where 3DHubs is able to calculate the support material needed in a print.
The option added for support removal based on surface area is a great start.

Though often times I have to spend as much time for cleaning up a small part with complex geometry vs a larger part with simpler geometry.

So I would like to set a fixed rate on support removal (also depending on the material choice of course).
E.g. €7 for support removal on ABS parts, but €12 for TPU parts.

                                  • I need a statement for my accountant of invoices and payments, as a service provider, not just the 3D Hubs fees

Each month I want to easily print all the invoices sent - jobs Im working on, and payments received. It can also show the service fee paid.
I dont want to go to each order and print the invoice ( those invoices are not very useful - they dont show the date payment was made)
Just one statement of account would be nice. Ideally, it needs to show all jobs forever, and/or be filtered by month.

                                    • pickup times

Set pickup times under Pickup delivery method so customers know before ordering when pickup is best available for 3dHubs.

                                      • Improved 3D printing trends

I was very disapointed that the part about the color distribution is no longer a part of the quarterly trending report. It was the only information that I could use for planning how to stock my hub to meet customer demand. What I would like is for that part to come back and also getting information about distribution of material, layer height, printing technique and build volume. If it would be possible to make the information available on a local level (per country/region) it would be extremly helpful and allow for the hubs to understand the customer demand.

Once I have a successful order with a hub, I would like an easy link from the completed order page to the hub's main page so I can add them as a favorite or start a new print with that great hub.
