3DHubs should NOT exclude hubs where the model can fit in diagonale
A friend of mine asked me to print something for him and I uploaded his model to 3DHubs to get an estimate/price from my own Hub, but then I figured out that my Hub wasn't listed. Even if I already checked that the object perfectly fits on my build plate in diagonale with a 10mm raft using Cura.
I would like 3DHubs to change the way they select Hubs based on build plate width and height only (based on their printers database)
Some objects can fit on the build plate in diagonale and can be perfectly printed. This is causing us loosing opportunities to handle more orders and make some more money.
Thanks for the fair feedback. We can probably take this along when we’re touching part orientation and build volume filtering
I agree on this, diagonally, you can sometimes fit larger prints than one would suggest based on jus the printers X- and Y-axis dimension.
That said, however, sometimes, 3D Hubs will list Hubs that cannot print an object horizontally but can fit them vertically. Even though this means parts will be less strong.
In the past, I have had to explain to customers that to print parts vertically does not give them the same finish and especially strength as the same part printed horizontally.

i had the same issue on a current print... lucky the customer asked if he could email the stl and sure enough i rotated it and it could fit
mind you that 3dhubs also subtract 10% of your build plate to be on the safe side
