  1. Wall thickness checker, similar to Shapeways

    Add an integrated model wall thickness, thin geometry checker. Same way Shapeways have on their site.

    This will assess the model for build-ability based on technology & material used and alert customer about any thin geometry that wont build or dangerously thin (gradient from green to red perhaps?). It is then up to the customer if they want to proceed with the order.

    This will eliminate unnecessary steps in order processing on hub's side as well as make order placement more intuitive on client side.

    We have to deal with hands-on communications with the customers about thin areas and unbuildable…

    • add the option ( checkbox ) for clients to allow stl file to be split for printing.

      Recently I wanted to check the price on my own hub for a part that I had printed in 2 sections and joined. Because the stl was too large, my hub was not even listed as an option for the quote.
      If you give clients the option to say that they are prepared to have their print done in sections and joined, then the client will be given more hubs as options to get quotes from, and more hubs have the opportunity to quote on prints that can be split for printing.

      • Allow more than just the Marvin sample for pricing

        I'd like to have two or three of my own STLs show when I work on hub pricing.

        • Ability to enter/log your invoice number & date against a completed order and have that in the order list as filter item

          Add an 'invoice nr' and 'invoice date' field to the complete order context. So as a hub it makes live easier to administer your orders. Then also have those two properties available in the orders list and export feature.

          • prevent customer from paying if they change submission after the hub accepts.

            This has happened to me a few times.
            1) Customer will submit an order for X model.
            2) I'll check the model, fix any errors with pricing and "accept" the order, 3d hubs will request payment at that point.
            3) the customer adds or replaces the models submitted, changing the size of the order (I've had a customer add over 100 hours to the print time and still expect me to hit the quoted deadline) or upload a model that the slicer calculates the volume incorrectly, for example if the client asks for a 100% infill print that I adjust…

              Hi Will, thanks for sharing this issue. We’ve seen it before and it does cause some unwanted behaviour every now and then.

              I think what you’re suggesting makes sense, only downside is that it slows down the order process a bit, preventing customers who are ready to pay from paying, we’ll try to assess how big that downside is as it might impact the business our Hubs are getting. If it looks ok, we can plan this change.

            • distinguish between different parts and copies of the same part

              Right now, the subsequent prints pricing option treats multiple different parts and multiple copies of a single part the same way. For almost any printer, setting up 10 parts is going to take way longer than setting up 10 copies of the same part, but there is no way to account for this. For some of our printers, this is really exaggerated and difficult to establish pricing for.

              • QuickBooks Integration

                Integration with the online accounting software QuickBooks from Intuit. This would enable those of us running a Hub as part of a small business to reconcile transactions with full details and automatically apply the correct account designation such as "sales", "3D Hubs Fees", "Shipping" and "Tax".

                As a small business owner, I need to record all of these values for tax filing purposes which are due monthly (sales tax) and quarterly (federal income tax).

                • Include NinjaFlex Filament in General Plastics and/or Rubber-like Plastics

                  NinjaFlex filament does not come up when searching under either "General Plastics" OR "Rubber-like Plastics" - It's in an "Other Materials" category that is very difficult to find even when you're looking for it (let alone allowing someone to find something new). Please add NinjaFlex to "General Plastics" and/or "Rubber-like Plastics" category

                  • Change Response Time Statisitic

                    I think response time should be based on hours in a business day (ex. 8 hours). Sometimes there are people burning the midnight oil who submit a job request and a company may not be able to respond until the following morning. Then the response time could be hours before any action is taken. To me this creates a false response time when companies such as mine will respond within 1 hour during business hours.

                    • Allow the embedded order widget button to be styled with css

                      The generated button for the embedded order widget is currently impossible to style and may clash with the aesthetic/theme of hubs' websites. I've also found it to sometimes break the styling of elements it's placed in. I think this will make the widget more accessible and attractive.

                        Hi Matt, thanks for sharing, this is something I’ll have to discuss with our designers. I can see the added value for businesses, so as long as it doesn’t harm the functionality I think this makes sense.

                      • Edit startup costs

                        Currently additional costs can be applied for every additional part, though if you get 10 parts that can be made in 1 print I think it unreasonable to charge the startup cost 10 times instead of once or twice.

                        Can we have a button to increment up or down the number of startup costs, or an editable field and the calculations can be done by the hub

                          Similar to how Craigslist lets you view by Gallery/List/Map, that map view is most helpful when considering Local Pickup options.

                            Thanks for sharing this request John. Indeed having a map view could be very handy for users who want to pick up prints. We do show the mini map in the checkout modal but thats on a hub by hub basis. I’ll review this with the team and see if we can fit it in.

                          • Allow alternative notification services besides Text Messages

                            For countries where your text messaging service does not work, consider allowing options for alternative instant notification services like WeChat, Pushbullet, etc.
                            eMail can be very slow when responsiveness is a sales factor.

                              For those (like me) who submit multiple projects, it would be great if we can give each a name for easy recognition, instead of having (just) a 3D Hubs order number. If I receive an order update (with a number) I can not recall from the number what project this is about.

                              • Enable conversion tracking when making sales

                                The new embeddable HTML widget is great for adding to a site for allowing people to print their items, but it would be REALLY great if we had the ability to track when people make a sale (conversion tracking).

                                I'd really like to add this to my google analytics for my webpage and as it requires adding some code to the "order success" page, i believe we'd need a new feature for it.

                                  Hi Kevin, we’re looking at adding more analytics on the Hub Dashboard that would include widget conversion, that has our priority, later we can look at supporting other external analytics tools as well.

                                • Picture Editing Tools

                                  Would be great to have a little image editing tool when you post a picture. I use my phone regularly to upload photos for clients but they always come out oversized and in the wrong orientation when uploaded, so things like cropping and picture rotating tools would make like much easier for myself and my customers. A mobile app would also be really great and the first of it's kind for this service system.

                                    Thanks for sharing Kristian. We’ll review this with the product team and see when we can fit the picture editor in. The app is also a good idea, something we hope to do in 2017.

                                  • Local version of 3d printing trends

                                    It would be nice to be able to get a more local view of the 3d printing trends. I am specifically interested in what material/colours are the customers demanding in my area.

                                      When ordering a print, customers see "materials" and "colors". If there are 2 colors avaliable and 2 resolutions avaliable, then 3D Hubs shows as if there are 4 "colors avaliable", which is confusing and more complicated for the customer. Could you separate the colors from the resolutions, and maybe have 3 dropdowns instead of 2? It seems as if they are separated earlier and later anyway.

                                        We’ve investigated this direction before, splitting the two into separate dropdowns does reduce the overview. E.g. when selecting the color you won’t know what resolutions are available, or other way around, when selecting resolution you won’t know what colors are available. So it might result in a lot of back and forward between the two dropdowns, leading to frustration and less conversion.

                                        This is clearly something we would need to A/B test for that matter. We’ll see if we want to prioritize testing this over other improvements, I do have to say we hardly get complaints from customers on this, mainly from Hubs.
